NASHRA AZIZ, MAKEUP ARTIST

Staying true to The Wonder Women World’s philosophy of showcasing women with varying experience and at various points on the road to achieving their goals, I would like you to meet Nashra Aziz, founder of Makeup Artistry by Nashra. I asked her to describe herself and she said “I am a colourful person, there are many shades that define me and grey is never one of them.” Nashra was stuck in a monotonous corporate job for a long time and she was unhappy. Then one fine day she had had enough, she packed her bags and went to Mumbai to do a professional make up course. That was the best decision she took. She had always heard that Mumbai is the city of dreams that can either make you or break you and she is thankful that, in her case, it was the latter.

As with any new career, she found herself trying to cope with the tough competition, the stress of building a client base and the ever changing trends. But she persevered and continues to do so. Nashra feels that to make it in the makeup industry, apart from of course, being good at the art, it is important to connect with the clients and make them feel at ease. That was easy for Nashra as she considers herself to be a complete people’s person. Nashra, strongly believes that you must not let others define what you can or cannot do. She says that one must ignore the doubters (as hard as that can be at times) and believe in yourself. And she chose to conclude the chat like a true makeup artist with a colourful quote “Make your mark on the globe like a lipstick stain on a white shirt”
