TAKE UP FOR YOUR CHILDREN

Many people of my generation will relate to the fact that older relatives and friends in the guise of advice or so-called love talk rudely or mock children.  They know they will get away with it because of their age or stature.  Children of our country are taught not to answer back or put forth their opinions in front of elders else they will be labelled as rude and badly brought up.  We ourselves never answer back, but what hurt the most was when our parents refused to speak up for us.  While I do understand that parents were in a way helpless, as they did not say anything out of respect …as children we felt betrayed.  The only people who could support us or speak up for us kept silent.

When someone mocks your child for his/her looks, intelligence, job, marriage, anything you are the one who will defend him/her and protect his/her dignity.   No one, just no one, has the right to humiliate a child.

Remember when a child is born, we promise to protect him/her.  Protecting doesn’t only mean physical protection, more important is the emotional well being of the child.  The world is a ruthless place and the children have to face many humiliating moments, and as parents it’s our duty to take care of them, respect their dignity and their emotional well being.

“If we don’t stand up for children, then we don’t stand for much.
