NEETU ARORA

She is known as a designer with a difference, one who empowers women around her!

A woman who strongly believes that money is valuable only when it helps make other women stand on their feet…Meet Neetu Arora, who has been in the world of design since the 10th grade. Neetu still fondly remembers the fifty rupees she earned by designing patchwork on a bed-sheet. Today she owns a designer studio named Luvya at Sector 7 C of Chandigarh. She designs dreams for brides in the form of their wedding outfits.

Though we have many fashion designers in this very competitive industry, you rarely come across those who use their success to uplift others and especially the underprivileged. Neetu teaches a group of widowed women from a village called Rampur in Chandigarh. She equips them with the skills of fashion design in order to make them confident and financially independent.

The story does not end with that, Neetu goes one step further and gives these women home based orders so they can earn from their newly taught skills.  She also encourages the women’s young daughters who aspire to become designers and extends her knowledge to them.

One of the young girls is Shikha who loved sketching and designing dresses. She always imagined bring her designs to life but the exorbitant fees of the design schools made learning inaccessible until she met Neetu who helped make her dream a reality.

Shikha is not alone, there are many like her who are learning from Neetu’s Designer Studio, Luvya. Neetu is of the belief that, “If we are born with some privilege then it is our duty to pay it forward. All we need is the will to give”

Neetu’s started out as a teenager and now has her designs being appreciated across the globe. She recalls the time her store was reduced to ashes after a fire – despite the heavy financial she didn’t sit back. She started from scratch, reached where she is today and continues to give back to the world in her own fabulous way!
