WORSHIP

Thousands of kilograms of chocolate and butter
Are used to carve me, why I wonder
No one in sight with a bowl of food or a jug of water for the poor crying out of hunger
I am bedecked with truck loads of exotic flowers in all shapes, sizes and color
No foot prints in the halls of a hospital to bring a smile with a bloom in winter or summer
People queue up for hours to get a glimpse of me for a second
Not a single trip to an elderly home or an orphanage that long for a visitor
I am placed on a high pedestal where no can can see me eye to eye
You distract their attention with jewels and trousseau on my body, up high
You try to bribe me with all the glitter of diamonds, gold and silver
Assuring yourself that your sins will be washed forever
I need no pomp and show nor fancy light bulbs
All I wait for are souls that wish to start clean in service to another
Bowing their heads for more of my blessings to carry it over
I am your God as beautiful as can be
I need no jewels to glorify me
I gift you riches not to give it back to me
But to pass it on to your loved ones and those that don’t have any
Your sins are yours and yours alone to clean
Wash them away with good deeds not precious beads
I deploy you to intervene like an angel in disguise
Turning your back on those that knock on your door wouldn’t be wise
Your prayers and offerings will not get to me
Until you do right to those within your reach
I glow in every willing heart
I am God your shining star
Do right, do good and I promise never to stay apart.
