CHRISTMAS TO ME IS…

Christmas to me is a table full of goodies and a house full of guests. Preparation for Christmas at my place starts at least two months in advance. We soak all the dry fruits in rum to make plum cakes and the entire house smells of freshly baked goodies.

Whenever guests visit our home during this season the table is filled with chocolates, sweets, mulled wine and the famous plum cake!  Carol singers from church visit us in the middle of the night to sing, wish and pray with us. It’s a season of excitement and fun.

As a little girl, I still remember sneaking into the kitchen in the middle of the night to grab some of the home made goodies mom used to make for us. We have Christmas on our mind all year round and make it a point to buy ornaments during our travels to deck up the Christmas tree.

Christmas now is much bigger than what it used to be. Large christmas trees and decorations are all over the malls and nowadays many buy the goodies rather than make them. It is also a time when families reunite, arguments gets resolved and people tend to forgive and forget easily. There is a nip in the air and a song in everyones heart.

Christmas to me means “Hope”, hope for the next year, hope that it will be better than this one and hope that we will all be together. So here’s hoping you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
