READING IS DREAMING WITH YOUR EYES OPEN!
The Harry Potter series by J.K . Rowling is just A.M.A.Z.I.N.G . I entered the magical world of wizards, Hogwarts and Hogsmeade when I was 13 and I’m hooked to it till date. I was in tears after the last novel in the series – it felt like I was leaving behind family.
The Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton has been part of my childhood. Moonface, Silky, the Saucepan Man, and Dame Slap Alot are lovable and memorable characters. Every week a new land would arrive at the top of the Faraway Tree and this book whetted my imagination and taught me to dream. (I’m a hopeless dreamer! I should probably blame this magical book for it!).
Jane Austen is another author I adore. Her classics transfer me to different world – the 18th century British society full of dancing and coming of age balls and dashing soldiers!
This list is incomplete without mentioning Alistair McLean (his talent needs to be acknowledged irrespective of his gender!). His espionage and counter espionage thrillers make my heart pound – they are unputdownable! Some of his books that are based on WW II , the Gestapo and the Allies are intriguing and makes history come alive.
