I HATE TO STUDY!

One thing I have been observing for quite some time now is kids abhorring studies.  No, this is not something new.  Even kids of our generation didn’t like studying.  But lately, I can see kids lacking interest in studies overall. What’s the reason?  Gadgets, kids being more entitled, distracted..might be to an extent.  But these are not the only reasons.  Indian education system gives emphasis to marks rather than learning.  The more a kid scores the better student he/she is.

PARENTING HAS NO RULES

Boy is growing up. And he back talks. It is a thing that can be slightly flustering as a parent. Because none of us ever want our child to back talk. Be obstinate and rude. But, it is happening. I am seeing it often now. The texture of language is also changing a bit. He is sometimes talking the way he should not. That is what everyone says. But do I feel the same way? No. This may sound a

WHAT’S YOUR VERDICT?

We belong to the phone ? Or the phone belongs to us? It has been ten odd days that I have been without a  phone now. A device that has been my constant companion for years now. Yeah ! Did I say anything wrong? Isn’t that the case really for many of us. All of us, perhaps. So, when my phone crapped on the evening of 31st December, I was crestfallen. What to do, now? DREAM CATCHERS

The world has changed and to be a woman today I feel it has become both liberating and challenging all at once. In terms of the expectations –  a woman is expected to be perfect at anything she takes up and excel at it. This adds a lot of pressure – self-imposed often times, but pressure it is. Via Dream Catchers which I founded 7 years ago, I have been able to provide a platform for women to feel confident,

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST…RETOLD

Beauty was a young girl who loved roses. She used to live with her step sister, step mother and her father. Their abode was a beautiful, spacious bungalow. Beauty used to go to the rose garden and water the roses every single day.  One day Beauty’s father asked her and her elder sister.  “What do you want as a gift?”  “Dear father, please bring me a beautiful shiny diamond”, replied the elder one.  The father nodded his head in affirmation

A New Year For Me!

Another year comes to an end. Another year begins in a few hours. Yet again that time, when I sit back and make resolutions. Do you? I guess, we all do. Some say. Some don’t. Some put it across in the Facebook. Some write it in the diary. Some save it in some folder of their laptop. And, some in that tenant-less corner of the heart. I keep it in my heart. No…no, nothing secretive. Just like that. Yu hi

CHRISTMAS

I grew up in a defence estate. I grew up with friends who belonged to different castes, creed, religions and spoke different languages. I never bothered. In fact we never bothered. We ate and spent time together. Like one. There was a sense of oneness. My neighbours were Christians. And hence Christmas was a festival close to my heart. Yeah, I never went to church for the prayers, but I did everything else that would make me a part of
